MPowering Kids Holds Clothing Drive for United Veterans Beacon House

Westbury, NY, June 1, 2007 — Bags of clothing lined the halls of Drexel Avenue School in Westbury as students of MPowering Kids smiled in satisfaction at the feat they had accomplished. MPowering Kids had held a clothing drive in their school and were able to collect numerous donations to benefit United Veterans Beacon House in Bay Shore.

In honor of Memorial Day and all the brave veterans, the students collected clothes throughout the month of May to support United Veterans Beacon House. Students hung signs throughout the school urging students and staff to bring in donations. United Veterans Beacon House assists our veteran population, as well as homeless women with children and families in need.

“The students take great joy in helping others,” said Susan Marshall, founder of MPowering Kids, “They were especially excited to help veterans who have given so much to our country. We look forward to continuing this annual event year after year.”

Representatives from United Veteran Beacon House made a special visit to MPowering Kids to pick up the donations. The kids were wide eyed looking at the van that was jam packed with all the donations that came in. MPowering Kids was presented with a plaque of appreciation that will hang proudly in their office.

The MPowering Kids program is made possible through the generous support of individual and corporate sponsors. For additional information about MPowering Kids, please visit the About Us section or go to the Donations page to help support MPowering Kids.
