MPowering Kids Holds Clothing Drive for United Veterans Beacon House

Westbury, NY, November 15, 2007 — MPowering Kids’ smiled as they lugged the heavy bags of clothes that were donated. The representatives from United Veterans Beacon house were impressed by the mounds of clothes that would certainly be put to good use. MPowering Kids recently held a clothing drive in their school and were able to collect numerous donations to benefit United Veterans Beacon House in Bay Shore.

In honor of Veterans Day, the students collected clothes throughout the month of November to support United Veterans Beacon House. Students hung signs throughout the school urging students and staff to bring in donations. United Veterans Beacon House assists our veteran population, as well as homeless women with children and families in need.

Representatives from United Veterans Beacon House took time to talk to the students about their years of service. Students learned from these brave Americans the variety of jobs you can study in the military that will provide a career after their time in the military is complete. They also learned of the many places around the world you are able to travel to in the military. MPowering Kids had many questions for the Veterans and listened attentively as they spoke.

“The students take great joy in helping others,” said Susan Marshall, founder of MPowering Kids, “They were especially excited to help veterans who have given so much to our country. We look forward to continuing this annual event year after year.”
