Susan R. Marshall – Founder & Director
Susan is the Founder of MPowering Kids and a member of the Board of Directors. Susan is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and owner of Gateway Investments, Inc., a financial and investment advisory services firm.
Susan holds a BS in Management from the State University of New York at Binghamton and an MBA in Corporate Planning from the New York University School of Business. Beyond volunteering her time to MPowering Kids three days a week or more, Susan is also a volunteer with Partners in Giving.
Anne Marie Agnelli – Director
Anne Marie brings to MPowering Kids her experiences as a Vice President, Communications and Community Relations for CA, Inc., one of the world’s leading independent IT management software companies. She has been responsible for North American internal and external communications, media relations, global philanthropic initiatives, and employee engagement efforts. Prior to CA, Anne Marie was Director, Affiliate Marketing and Public Relations for Cablevision-Madison Square Garden Network & Fox Sports New York. She has worked with companies such as Time Warner Cable.
Anne Marie attended St. John’s University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication Arts. She is currently on the Board of Advisors for CUNY Creative Arts Team (CAT) and is a member of both the Center to Encourage Corporate Philanthropy National Philanthropy Day Planning Committee and The Conference Board Community and Public Issues Council.
Roger Goodwin – Director
Roger is a private investor and a former Senior Managing Director with Bear Stearns & Co., where his focus has been on trading fixed income and currency. Prior to Bear Stearns, Roger was a VP with Salomon Brothers where he traded government bonds.
Roger has been a key fundraiser and sponsor for the NY Police & Fire Widow’s & Children Benefit Fund, Tuesday’s Children, Chaminade High School and other community service organizations. He is involved in the community as a Captain of the Plandome Volunteer Fire Department and a sports coach for a children’s sports league.
Dara Levine – Director
Dara is a Brand Manager with Tumi Inc, managing the T-Tech by Tumi diffusion line. Prior to joining Tumi, Dara was with American Express in Global Merchant Services, managing strategic B2B merchant accounts in the Healthcare Industry. Dara had an exciting and unique career in the fashion industry with Filene’s Basement, DKNY and Coach. In 1996, Dara followed her passions for travel and photography with a one year global tour, returning to the U.S. with a portfolio of beautiful images that she exhibited while volunteering as a Co-Chair Fresh Air Fund and a committee member of Seeds of Peace. In addition, Dara has also worked as an event planner supporting non- profit organizations while studying to obtain her Higher Certificate in Wine at the International Wine Center. Dara transitioned this passion into a career. As a Burgundy specialist, she became the Director of Corporate Sales at The Burgundy Wine Company in NYC where she remained for 5 years.
Dara earned her BA from University of Vermont in Sociology with minor in Art /English. Dara continues to maintain her vibrant photography business and wine interests.
Heidi S. Lobel – Director
Heidi is the Senior Vice President of Network Daytime and SOAPnet Sales and ABC Television Network. Prior to joining ABC, Heidi was the Managing Director of National Broadcast and Director of Employee Volunteer Programs for Mediaedge: CIA, a global media investment company and its sister company, Mindshare. Heidi has also worked at the NBC Television Network where she was Director of Strategic Marketplace Planning, responsible for strategic and tactical negotiations of over $3 billion of advertising.
Heidi received a Bachelor of Science degree from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
Linda Ritchie – Director & C.E.O. Meritus
After serving as C.E.O./Executive Director of MPowering Kids for the last six years, Linda now supports MPowering Kids as a Board Director. As the CEO of The Gateway Group, a strategic marketing and high-tech consulting firm, Linda brings 25 years of marketing, web/ecommerce, and branding strategy expertise to the fore; assisting her clients expand their businesses and profits. Before creating The Gateway Group in 2003, Linda spent many years as a senior marketing executive with several global corporations, including Epson America, where she launched new strategic markets as part of the Corporate Strategy group and was ultimately responsible for Epson’s Ecommerce division. Prior to Epson, Linda led the early start-up and growth phases of the introduction of the VCR Plus+ technology into a $50 million business in the U.S. for Gemstar/TV Guide Corporation.
Linda attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst for both her BA and MBA studies. Linda is also an active community leader through her work as a certified emergency response team member, and as a certified master gardener that volunteers as a speaker, writer, and resource to the community.
Judy Rosemarin – Director
Founder of and Executive Coach at Sense-Able Strategies for over 27 years, Judy has successfully coached business leaders, entrepreneurs, and C-level executives helping them become the best they can be. For over 17 years, Judy hosts and facilitates the hugely popular monthly Senior Networking meetings in New York City, and is an adjunct faculty member of New York University’s School of Continuing Professional Studies, She is part of iCoachNewYork.com where she teaches the Professional Coaching Program at The Zicklin School of Management at Baruch College. In addition, she is an adjunct professor at Hofstra University. Since May of 2009, Judy has achieved high praise for her NYC-based “HumawayTM StoryTelling” workshops for executives who either want to become better communicators in their jobs or for those looking for their next one.
Judy holds a B.S. in Photography and Journalism, a M.S. in Counseling and an M.S.W in Social Work.
James R. Santangelo – Director
James is a Certified Public Accountant and Controller for the Amalgamated Lithographers of America and their Employee Benefit Plans. James also worked in public accounting for over 10 years and in addition to being a CPA, he is licensed as a Real Estate Broker and a Life, Accident and Health Insurance representative.
James is involved with several professional organizations including the American Institute of CPA’s and the NYS Society of CPA’s. He also provides pro bono treasurer services for a Youth Soccer Club and serves on the Board as Treasurer of a Homeowner’s Association. James received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting with Honors from St. John’s University.
Catherine Sullivan – Director
Catherine is the Senior Vice President of News Sales for ABC TV. She joined ABC in 2001 when she was named Vice President, Sales. Before joining ABC, Ms. Sullivan worked in Sales for NBC, where she held the position of Director of NBC Connect.
Catherine also serves on the non-profit board of the 9/11 Foundation, whose mission is to help children of parents who perished on 9/11 get into and through college. Catherine earned her BA degree from Providence College.
The volunteers who work with the MPowering Kids students create very special bonds with the students. The one-to-one tutoring and mentoring provided by the volunteers is one of the favorite things MPowering Kids students mention when surveyed. By helping a student learn, you are empowering their mind and creating a strong, self-confident child. What a gift! MPowering Kids is a non-profit charitable organization that provides after-school tutoring, mentoring, and cultural enrichment and community service programs for motivated students in Nassau County (Long Island), New York. The MPowering Kids staff and volunteers work closely with students from fourth grade through their high school graduation. The MPowering Kids program is solely supported by donations from individuals, foundations, and corporate sponsors.
